Vietnam’s prime minister Phạm Minh Chính has unveiled the country’s goal to be amount the global top 20 to 35 largest economies by 2030, during a meeting held on Monday.

Chaired by the PM, the meeting was focused on evaluating the country's progress in executing the Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2021-2030. 

Key government figures, including multiple deputy prime ministers and ministry officials, participated in the meeting. Delegates provided feedback and suggestions on the draft report that assesses the Plan's progress, Vietnam News reports.

The delegates highlighted achievements under the leadership of the Party, State, National Assembly, and Government while also discussing challenges, limitations, and their underlying causes.

Furthermore, Phạm Minh Chính commended the valuable contributions from delegates and stressed the importance of finalising the draft report for presentation at the upcoming 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The prime minister went on to add that despite global challenges, Vietnam has shown resilience, innovation, and decisive leadership, positioning the country for ongoing growth. 

Looking forward, Phạm Minh Chính highlighted the importance of stability as a cornerstone for development and called for coordinated innovation across all sectors. 

He also stressed the need for strategic breakthroughs in key areas, particularly in enhancing the socialist-oriented market economy, promoting science and technology innovation, and concentrating on emerging sectors such as the green and digital economies. 

The prime minister also outlined specific projects aimed at driving economic growth, including initiatives in digital transformation, green transition, and clean energy development.

Infrastructure projects such as the North-South high-speed railway and the HCM City-Can Tho railway were named as key priorities. In addition, there are plans to improve national data centres and develop international financial and trade hubs
